Mrs. E. entered our office with severe pain in the neck, right shoulder and tingling in the right hand. Her pain became so severe that her family doctor referred her to a neurosurgeon and was also recommended epidurals. She knew she did not want shots in her neck or surgery and came to me for an alternative to these invasive procedures.
There is a misconception in chiropractic care that every person who receives treatment must have a neck adjustment, which causes a cracking sound and this is simply not true. In this case, it was very important to use gentle soft tissue techniques including a device called an arthrostim and a percussor. Because of the severity of pain, we also used a Fenzian unit to help decrease pain and stimulate healing.
I am pleased to report at this time, Mrs. E. feels great and hopefully she will never need epidural shots or neck surgery.
